Every designer understands that color has the power to transform a space, and a bedroom is no exception. Out of every area in your home, it's one room that should allow for rest and relaxation. And believe it or not, choosing the right color palette can help make this happen.

1 COZY RETREAT

In the guest bedroom of Steven Gambrel's New York apartment, white bedding and 1950s sconces by Ignazio Gardella create contrast against gray walls and an upholstered bed. The custom bed features a Zimmer + Rohde fabric and the houndstooth pillows are in a Holland & Sherry fabric.

3 MIAMI PENTHOUSE

In the master bedroom of a Miami penthouse by designer Jean-Louis Deniot, gray and white hues, along with a pop of deep blue, fill the space. Furnishings in the Art-Deco inspired South Beach penthouse include a headboard boasting an Aldeco pattern, a custom floor lamp, and a coverlet with a Kirkby Design fabric. To finish the space, the mirror is by R&Y Augousti, and the carpet is by Toulemonde Bochart. For added visual interest, the designer chose to create an accent wall with distressed stacked bricks and opted for a statement ceiling—a hand-painted mural with a spiral pattern.

4 FARMHOUSE STYLE

For a Swedish home with a farmhouse vibe, a young couple settled on a soothing palette of white and soft gray for their master bedroom. The bed is by Hästens, and the lamp and stool are both vintage.

5 BEACH ESCAPE
The master bedroom of a Palm Beach home was transformed with a calming palette of white and grays. The walls are of a Venetian plaster, the settee is by Gastone Rinaldi and is upholstered in a Bergamo fabric, and the rug is by V’Soske.

6 STYLISH SANCTUARYA Manhattan apartment designed by Alex Papachristidis is proof that a gray and white palette doesn't have to be boring. The upholstered master bed is outfitted with a Holly Hunt silk and Schweitzer linens; the stainless steel chair (right) is by Maria Pergay, and the Philippe Hiquily chair purchased at Sotheby’s has cushions in a Fortuny fabric.

7 MAXIMALIST BEAUTY
Maximalism infuses every inch of this guest bedroom, designed by Mary McDonald. Owned by the founders of the beauty brand Too Faced, the California home features gray and white, along with pops of yellow. The charming space consists of a bed by McDonald for Chaddock, vintage tole palms, and nightstands by Julian Chichester. The ceiling and walls are sheathed in a classic striped paper by Schumacher.

8 BRIGHT AND AIRY

For an airy bedroom in a Cape Cod-style home, Homepolish designer Orlando Soria stuck with a crisp white palette with just a hint of gray by way of an upholstered bed design. A handmade alligator bench makes a statement.

9 CITY LIVING
Design duo Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson crafted a soothing master bedroom in a New York City penthouse with a skyline view. Light grays, white, and cream—plus layers of texture—add glam to the room.

10 RUSTIC HAVEN

The master bedroom of a 1910 rustic home on Long Island’s Watermill was revived with gray and white shades. Since the space serves as a weekend home for a young Manhattan family, designer James Huniford chose a subtle palette to showcase the room's brightness. Furnishings include a custom bed design in Huniford's Bennett fabric for Lee Jofa and vintage nightstands.
